- Carlisle, home of the Army Heritage and Education Center
- Hanover, the snack food capital of the USA
- Hershey, synonymous with chocolate
- Lebanon
- Chambersburg
- York, the First Capital
More routes are being added all the time, and they can all be viewed at https://ridewithgps.com/groups/BSCPA-Bike-Routes-Ready-to-Proof
You may need to set up an account with www.RideWithGPS.com to download the route info, but a basic account is free of charge. Each route offers maps, cue sheets and GPS downloads for Garmin and other devices.
These routes vary in mileage from 12 to 55 miles and are designed so you can create a tour that meets your preferred distance, location and timeframe. They are one-way routes that take you from community to community. Ride with GPS does offer a reverse route feature that can be used if no return route is posted.
Some routes feature gentle terrain or rolling hills while others offer challenging climbs. Be sure to look at the route profile and elevation gain when making your plans. Each route also contains a description of what is featured along the way. Point of interest stops are noted and include references to parks, historic sites, scenic views and more basic things like food, water and restrooms.
